The Automate UK Awards celebrate the people, businesses, technologies and innovations driving the UK automation industry forward.
Awards programmes depend on engagement. To grow the Awards, we needed to reach the right people at the right time and give businesses, teams and individuals a compelling reason to enter, while creating an event people wanted to attend.
We needed to build a distinctive identity for the Awards, explain the value of entering and maintain momentum from the opening of submissions through to the event.
Every touchpoint also needed to remain consistent across multiple categories, audiences and campaign stages, with a clear reason to enter or attend.
Our strategy focused on growing the profile of the Awards and creating sustained engagement throughout the campaign, rather than treating the event as a single moment in the calendar.
We mapped communications around the complete Awards journey, from opening entries and encouraging submissions through to announcing finalists and winners, promoting attendance and maintaining engagement beyond the event. That built momentum at every stage and created more opportunities for Automate UK and its members to share and amplify the campaign.
Brand and creative development. We created a distinctive creative identity for the Awards that works consistently across digital, social, email, website and event communications. It gives the Awards a stronger presence of their own while staying connected to the wider Automate UK brand, so the campaign can evolve across stages without losing recognition or impact.
Storytelling and content. Strong creative needs an equally strong story. We developed campaign messaging and copy that brought the Awards to life, communicating not only what they were but why entering mattered. Website content was updated continually to support entries, communicate key information, showcase categories and finalists, and encourage attendance.
Entry acquisition. A major focus was increasing both the volume and quality of submissions. Targeted communications set out the value of entering and showcased the breadth of categories, and carefully timed email, social, digital and content activity kept visibility high throughout the submission window, using key milestones and deadlines to create momentum.
Event promotion. Once submissions closed, the campaign shifted towards attendance. Content about finalists, categories, entertainment and event highlights built anticipation and showed the value of bringing the automation community together.
The joined-up campaign increased award submissions by 70% year on year and delivered a record number of entries in 2025.
It also increased engagement with Awards content and supported event attendance, with communications covering the full journey from entries to the ceremony.
