PPMA Show is the UK's largest exhibition for processing and packaging machinery, bringing together hundreds of exhibitors and industry buyers.
As an annual event, PPMA Show needed to give exhibitors and visitors a clear reason to return each year, despite strong competition for their time and marketing budgets.
The campaign needed a distinctive visual idea that communicated the scale and value of the event consistently across every channel.
Our strategy centred on smart use of budget to increase attendance and attract the right audiences during a period of economic challenge. Communications targeted in-market buyers and new, high-value audiences to maximise exhibitor value.
The objective was clear: drive attendance from qualified decision-makers actively looking for automation and related technology.
Creative and content. Our team developed several creative routes, and one stood out. As the biggest processing and packaging machinery show, the concept communicated sheer scale by placing huge, oversized machinery images and typography in urban landscapes. The creative gave the campaign a recognisable visual identity built around the scale of the show.
Visitor acquisition. Expanding to new prospects was a key goal, but re-engaging previous visitors was just as important to record registrations and attendance. Communications positioned speakers and exhibitors as sector experts, building interest and confidence among buyers and influencers, supported by an online matchmaking tool.
Event marketing. Running over a focused 15-week period, the campaign needed longevity, so we delivered PR, social media, email marketing and a campaign website. Best-practice SEO and website optimisation made sure no visitors were lost along the way, and a strategic mix of organic and paid media delivered measurable results in a shorter timeframe than previous campaigns.
The 'UK's biggest show' campaign delivered record registrations and increased attendance by 10%. New visitors rose by 74%, while 4.8 million impressions and more than 110,000 targeted prospects expanded the campaign's reach. The work was delivered on budget within the 15-week campaign window.
